and precipices are part of the scenery. Situated in the
biggest ecological sanctuary in the state of Rio Grande do

Brazil. It is a great place to surf, take boat and canoe
rides, buggy and horse rides, walks and motor cross along
trails through the Atlantic forest. Charming and comfortable
facilities; hotels and guesthouses, bars, shops and
restaurants with a truly international flavour. Nightlife in
Pipa is an attraction in itself. Cosmopolitan and exciting,
the lively Pipa folk need energy to last them till dawn.
There, young people from all over the world gather and give
themselves up to everything from the rhythms of the regional

Olinda Olinda is
one of the best preserved colonial cities in Brazil. With an
elevated location overlooking Recife and the Atlantic, the
city's historical district is concentrated on its winding
upper streets. But this is no still life. Olinda is very much
a living, breathing city. The cultural scene here is alive and
kicking, and its beautiful enclave of preserved colonial
buildings is populated by artists, students and bohemians.
Churches, museums, art galleries and convents vie with outdoor
restaurants, there is music in the streets, and craft markets
attract locals and tourists alike. Carnival in Olinda is a
huge affair, with the historic setting and party-animal
residents providing an intimacy and sense of security that
other Carnivals lack, though some believe the atmosphere is
changing in the face of commercialization. |
